Herbert Foundation is pleased to invite you on Sunday 18 October at 3pm for a Visit with Steven Jacobs. Jacobs will focus his tour on the Marcel Broodthaers’ exhibition Carte du monde poétique and more specifically on the importance of film in the artist’s oeuvre. Broodthaers’ fascination for serial images and for the interaction between words and images and popular visual entertainment resulted in dozens of short-films. Moreover, his oeuvre comprises several allusions to the history and mechanisms of cinematography.

Steven Jacobs is an art historian specialized in the relations between film and the visual arts. Furthermore, his research focuses on the artistic visualization of architecture, city and landscape in film and photography. Since 2011 he is professor at the Department of Art History of the University of Ghent.
